   Faintly heard in the background was beeping. You groaned as you felt soft cotton sheets under your fingertips. You tried to pry your eyes open, and after a few unsuccessful attempts you succeeded.  Raising your hand up to your head your eyes scanned the room you were in. Immediately realizing you were in a hospital room it all flooded back to you. Your face remained stoic and grim as you sat up in the bed.
   "Well good morning, sunshine!" a chipper voice yelled at you. You glared at Alfred as he practically skipped over to you from the doorway with a smile on his face. You just groaned in response, putting your face in your hands. Alfred of course noticed, but his smile never left his face. "So how do you feel?" He asked. Not moving from your position you mumbled through your hands.
   "Like crap. How long have I been out?" you asked, the angst coming off of you in waves. The doctor just chuckled at you.
   "Just for about a day and half, you looked really tired when you passed out" he said in a cheery manner. Becoming peeved at his mood you growled.
    "Is that supposed to be a good thing?" you asked in an obviously annoyed tone. Of course Alfred just dismissed the atmosphere.
   "Well considering the news I have yes and no. By the way wanna hear my news?" The doctor playfully asked. You on the other hand had grown impatient and frustrated at his cheery demeanor. You faced him, glaring at the doctor.
   "What? Did I miss the ending of world hunger or something when I was out? Why the hell are you so happy?!" you yelled at him. Even though you saw him flinch and see his smile leave his face for a second, it came back full force.
   "No, but I still think my news is pretty good! Well most of it anyway" Alfred replied. Not understanding you just gave him a sour look. Now acknowledging your confusion Alfred walked over to the curtain that divided your room.
   "After you passed out your friends condition changed dramatically. The swelling in her brain went down, resulting in her becoming stable. But that's not the best part" The doctor began, making your eyes grow wide. "She got extremely lucky and we found out the swelling didn't cause much damage, the only thing that was effected were some nerves. So pretty much she'll have a hard time identifying tastes and smells for a while. Oh, she also woke up a few hours earlier" Alfred continued, his mega-watt smile spreading from ear to ear. Hearing the joyful news you let out a squeak and instantly covered your mouth. But feeling your heart swell with happiness you couldn't contain yourself, so you hopped up and down in the bed as you spazzed.
   "A-are you serious? She's okay!?" you asked almost in disbelief. Alfred nodded to you, wrapping his hand around the curtain.
   "She also wanted to say hi!" the doctor said, pulling back the curtain. At first you did a double-take, becoming confused as to why he would pull back the curtain, when all of a sudden you saw your friend Amy laying in bed, a multitude of bandages wrapped around her. Wide awake she turned to you and smiled, and you smiled back. Since she was in a neck brace her smile looked awkward, making you laugh.
   "Amy you look so stupid!" you said happily, making her pretend to look offended.
   "WELL I NEVA." She shouted in reply, and the both of you chuckled in relief, knowing everything was finally okay. Alfred just stood there watching, and being so concerned with your friend you didn't care to notice the sincere smile on his face, but someone else did. Instead you decided you should go over to her bed instead of talking across the room, considering she was more immobile than you. Swinging your legs across the bed you were about to get off when Alfred interrupted you.
   "Wait! Watch out for your IV, and dude your whole back is kinda exposed" Alfred said as he went to your side. From your excitement you completely forgot you were changed, so as you were reminded your face turned scarlet.
   "O-oh yeah, haha, t-thanks for reminding me…" you trailed off, wrapping the blanket that was on the bed around you. Getting off the bed and stepping onto the cold floor you felt goose bumps go up your spine. Alfred helped you with your IV as you sat down by your friend. Now not in need of anymore assistance you were wondering what Alfred was still doing in your room, and he caught on when you and Amy looked at him expectantly.
   "Oh! My news that wasn't so good was about you" the doctor said as he pointed at you. Somewhat shocked you let him continue. "Of course the reason why you passed out was from a severe panic attack, which at first we thought was from the trauma of the news of Amy, but talking with your best friend for a while I happened to learn a few things…" Alfred said putting his hands on his hips. You turned slowly to face your friend with a 'you are SO dead' look, and she just tried to shrug in reply.
   "What did you tell him…?" you asked in a dark tone. Before Amy could reply Alfred interrupted.
   "She just told me of the other panic attack you had a few weeks earlier, and how she had to shout at everyone for their stupidity and impatient ignorance. She also notified me of all the stress you've been under, which leads me to my next question. Why didn't you tell me about this in our last appointment?" the doctor asked, and you could hear his tone become a bit more serious. This time you laughed nervously, hanging your head.
   "W-well I thought it wasn't important…" you replied in a quiet tone. You heard Alfred sigh as your friend giggled at you. You shot her another glare.
   "(Name), as your doctor everything's important to me" Alfred said as he walked over to you, putting his hand on your shoulder, making a light pink dust your cheeks. You noticed your friend couldn't stop smirking. Looking out into the hall the doctor's facial expression looked a bit conflicted. "Ahh, okay well I have to go now (Name), but I'll talk to you more about this later" Alfred continued. You and Amy said your goodbye's to him as you both watched him walk out of the room. Now finally alone you sighed.
   "Told you to get a stress ball…" Amy muttered. Turning towards her you gave her a death glare. Not fazed she stared straight back at you.
   "Shut. Up. Amy. Or I will kill you" you emphasized, annoyed Amy betrayed you by talking to Alfred. She just chuckled at you, completely ignoring your statement.
   "So that's the hot doctor guy you were telling me about, and damn, you weren't lying…" Amy trailed off, making you flustered.
   "S-so?! I-I don't really care" you replied back. Even you could tell you were lying through your teeth. Still ignoring you Amy continued.
   "I mean like seriously, did you see that ass? It is sooo-" before she could finish you put your hand on her mouth, but instantly you recoiled when you felt it become wet. You made a disgusted face realizing your best friend licked your hand.
   "EW! Amy! That's so gross! Why would you do that!? My hands are extremely dirty!" you shouted at her, making Amy laugh again.
   "I don't care, you know I hate when people touch my face. Anyway oh my god (Nickname)! Did you see how hard he was crushin' on you!?" Amy practically shouted in your ear. At once you tried to calm her down.
   "N-No! I can tell you right now he doesn't like me! A-and furthermore what makes you think I like him!?" you spluttered out. You froze realizing your mistake, a smirk slowly spreading across your best friends face. She never said anything about you liking him.
   "You like him" she bluntly said. Of course, still flustered, you flat out refused.
   "No, I DO NOT! Even if I did it wouldn't matter, what makes you think I could ever get as hot a guy like him?" you asked Amy, becoming frustrated as you stood up. Still smirking she looked up at you.
   "Well he pretty much acted as if I didn't exist, giving you most of his attention, he was staring at you the entire time he was here, and oh- he also made sure to ignore the nurse calling him out in the hallway that you failed to notice to spend more time with you. That's why he all of a sudden up and left, 'cause she was starting to get pissed" Amy explained. You nodded in return, processing the information. In reality you really truly wanted to believe that he liked you since you liked him, but you didn't want to get your hopes up. Most men you wanted to date never really wanted to date you, and you thought Alfred was way out of your league. You looked up to Amy, trying to make a decision.
   "Do you, do you think we would make a cute couple…?" you asked her in an unsure tone. Amy gave you a reassuring smile.
   "Definitly-" she began, but got cut off as Alfred walked back into the room. He looked to you then Amy with a smile on his face.
   "So… what'd I miss?" Alfred stated. You and Amy looked to each other, then busted out laughing. Alfred could only stand there confused.

   ~~~Three years later ;P~~~
   Today was finally Saturday. You and Alfred got the weekends off, so if you weren't spending time with each other then you would be out of the house, which is where you precisely were. You were heading down to the local café that you met Alfred at many years ago, except this time you were just going to meet Amy. She demanded that the both of you should have some 'girl time' and arranged a date. So at the moment you were driving from Alfred's apartment towards your desired destination. You smiled to yourself as you thought about driving from Alfred's apartment, and not yours. About a year ago, maybe more, you had moved in with each other.
   That was another thing Amy wanted to talk about, what you two have been up to, all alone. And as she asked that when you both were arranging the date you knew exactly what she was implying. If it weren't for your high self-restraint you would've knocked her out years ago. As you spotted a parking spot near the café you sighed, hoping your friend wouldn't pull off any weird antics. Looking around you noticed she wasn't there either, considering you didn't see her car. Shaking your head you got out of the car. Upon standing up you wobbled a bit as you had gotten light headed for a moment. A bit confused as to why that happened you shut your door, walking to the café. You just shrugged it off, deciding to get a table for you and Amy.
~~~GIRL TIME BECHES~~~

   You slumped in your seat waiting for Amy, your legs sticking to the leather since you were wearing shorts. It was the middle of summer, so it seemed appropriate for today. With an annoyed face you put your head in your hand, leaning on the table.
   "Ughhh, already fifteen minutes late, what the heck…" you trailed off. You didn't mind waiting, but the stares you were getting from the men in the place were not very appealing. You decided that it didn't matter how hot it was, you were not going to wear (fav tanktop) ever again in public without Alfred. You then looked up as someone ran through the front door. Spotting Amy searching frantically you waved your hand in there, a glare setting upon your features. Spotting you Amy put on an apologetic smile, plopping down in the seat across from you.
   "Okay, I know I'm late, but I have a good reason!" Amy said. Taking a sip of your drink in a mockingly serious manner, your eyes never left her face.
   "Go on" you just said. Realizing you what you were trying to do Amy chuckled, and with no words necessary held up her right hand. Seeing the stone on her ring finger you did a spit take. You knew Amy had started dating one of your customers after her accident, but you didn't realize it was this serious. "WAIT WHAT? WHEN-" you shouted out, but got cut off by Amy who began to explain.
   "We were at the park, but before I was supposed to leave he proposed! I was so happy I forgot the time, I'm sorry!" Amy began, but you waved her off. The moment was too happy and you forgave her anyway.
   "Whatever, I'm just so happy for you right now! But isn't it a bit soon? You two have been barely together for two years" you said a bit concerned. You friend just gave a knowing smirk to you.
   "(Name), we have an undying love for each other, we live together, oh- and that's right, he's a lawyer. I think I'm pretty good" Amy countered. Laughing at her comment you shook your head. As you were about to reply Amy cut you off, catching a waiter who happened to pass by. You waited patiently as she ordered her drink and food, drumming your fingers on the counter top. You decided to sit in an Indian-style position in your seat since you had begun to get cold. As you pulled your legs up you coulkd obviously tell your legs were sore, but from what you had no clue. You decided to ignore it for now, and Amy grabbed your attention anyway.
   "Hey, (Name), you want any food? It is just about dinner time anyway, so why not?" Amy suggested. Considering you only ate breakfast today you thought you would have been hungry. But thinking about it you realized you didn't have much of an appetite. In fact, you also noted that ever since you entered the shop you had begun to not feel very well, since it didn't bother you that much though you didn't want to let Amy know, you knew she might get a bit overprotective.
   "A-ahh, no I'm fine, I ate before I came… haha… sorry" You replied. You mentally smacked yourself. You could even tell you were lying. Giving you an unamused looked Amy told the waiter that was all, and you watched nervously as he walked away, leaving you two alone again.
   "You didn't eat before you came, did you?" Amy said knowingly. You nodded ashamed.
   "I'm sorry! I just- I'm not hungry.  I don't know what you want me to tell you…" you said, rubbing the back of your neck. Amy just snorted.
   "That's all I wanted you to tell me. You should know by now you can't lie to me (Nickname)~"  Amy said in a teasing tone, making you huff.
   "Yes. I know. Gosh, and back to our previous conversation, fine, as long as I know you're being taken care of. I couldn't care how long you've been with him" you stated after you both calmed down. Looking straight at her face you noticed Amy's eyes seemed to show she knew more than you, but hearing your words your friend then got a more serious and worried look.
   "That's all fine and dandy, but now I think the real question here is if YOU will be taken care of" Amy said, and you rolled your eyes, knowing where the conversation was going.
   "Amy, me and Alfred are perfectly fine. I bet he'll propose soon anyway, we've been together for like three years, that's an average time in my book. I would also completely understand if he wanted to wait another year or two as well" you replied, trying to comfort your friend, who did not look satisfied.
   "Really? If you were fine, and you two loved each other as much as you say you do, then why would he not have proposed by now? Idaknow (Name)…" Amy said, making you frown.
   "Well its Alfred, how am I supposed to know? And don't judge him like that! I know Alfred can be immature and stupid sometimes but I know he loves me" you said defensively, taking a sip of your cold, refreshing drink. During your conversation with Amy you had acquired a headache and it seemed to be getting worse, it didn't help that you had already begun to feel like crap.
   "Alright alright! I guess I might be a little quick to judge, but don't say I didn't warn you if something happens" your friend said, putting her hands up in front of her. In return you shrugged. Before you could do anything else the waiter came back and interrupted you again, quickly setting down her order and dashing away to help another customer. You watched as she sipped her steaming hot coffee. You wondered how she could ever drink that on a day like this. Noticing your headache wouldn't go away you decided to get away from all the noise.
   "I'll be right back, I'm gonna go to the bathroom" you said as you got up, making your friend raise an eyebrow.
   "Are you feeling ok? Because I was gonna say you didn't look good anyway" Amy commented, making you look offended.
   "THANKS. I LOVE YOU TOO AMY. And I'm fine!" you replied somewhat offended, stalking off towards the ladies room. Hearing your friend giggle in the background you grumbled on your way to the bathroom, shoving open the door maybe a bit too roughly. Once inside you went over to the sinks. You thought splashing some cold water on your face might help you since it was so hot out. Looking up into the mirror you almost did a double take. Amy wasn't lying when she said you looked horrible.
   Your face was pale, almost too much for your liking, making the dark circles around your eyes all the more obvious. Groaning at your image you ran a hand through your hair, leaning on the sink. Putting pressure on your upper body you cringed at feeling how weak you had become. But of course being difficult you didn't want to accept what the obvious conclusion was to your ailments. It just didn't make sense in your mind. 'I was completely fine this morning!' you protested. Thinking your face lit up as you made an excuse you tried to make yourself believe. 'The heat is just getting to me, yeah! I just need to hydrate more! I shall go do so!' you thought triumphantly as you then decided to start walking back to your seat. Coming out of the bathroom you looked a bit more courageous than before. Amy looked at you expectantly as you neared your table. As you sat down you made a face of discomfort, noticing your whole body had become weak.
   "And?" Amy expectantly asked, not waiting for you to get situated. You gave her a perplexed look, having no idea what she was getting on about.
   "And what?" you asked back. She just gestured towards you. Finally getting the message you made an 'oh' noise.
   "No, I am not sick. You should know by now I have no time for that" you said bluntly.
   "That's not what your face says…" Amy trailed off, looking out the window from where you were sitting. You scoffed.
   "Whatever! Hey wait where are you going?!" you hurriedly asked seeing your friend get up. She just smirked as she forced you to get up as well.
   "Home, just like you are about to do too!" She began as she started pushing you towards the front door. You tried stopping her, but from already becoming fatigued your efforts were futile.
   "B-but Amy-!" you said, but she cut you off.
   "Ah ah ah! No! You get in your car and go home! We'll postpone our girl time for another day. If you don't get some rest you'll just make it worse for yourself" Amy said, making you sigh in defeat, knowing she was right.
   "Fiiiiinnne, but I feel so bad, and-" You whined, but she stopped you again, shoving you out the front door, her right behind you.
   "Don't worry about it. Instead make Alfred your bitch for the day by having him get you things" she began as she started to walk back towards the café. You deadpanned. "By the way you're my maid of honor! I'll see ya later best friend!" Amy yelled towards you as she went through the doors, going in to pay. Already knowing you were going to be you just facepalmed, heading towards your car. It was bad enough it was because of you, your girl time was canceled, but now she was going to pay for everything. You just sighed. 'Only her…' you thought smirking.

   ~~~LET ZE GAMES BEGIN~~~
   Setting foot in the house you knew you had to do something before Alfred found out you were sick. He was a doctor and your boyfriend. He would find out in some way. It didn't help that you had begun to walk at the pace of a turtle. The only reason you didn't want to notify the man in the first place was because he was already under enough stress, so you adding to the mix was something you were trying to avoid.
   That's why peeking into the living room you were relieved to see him playing video games, his world totally enveloped by the T.V screen. He probably hadn't even noticed you walking in. About to walk out of the room you stopped as you heard his voice, your blood running cold.
   "Hey, babe! I thought you were gonna be home later, it's only like six! Did Amy cancel or something?" Alfred said cheerfully. You just laughed nervously as you turned to him, putting on a smile.
   "Oh, hah, no. We just both were tired and decided there wasn't much to do anyway so we went home. But she did tell me she's engaged, and I'm the maid of honor" you said, trying to change the subject. It apparently worked since Alfred smiled wider.
   "Oh, well that's great! And since you're home what would you like for dinner? I'll cook tonight" Alfred continued, fortunately not noticing your state. Buy you faltered since to be honest, you still didn't have an appetite. Scanning the room to avoid him you pretended to think.
   "Ahh, its fine Al. You can make whatever you want, it doesn't matter to me, I'm not really that hungry" you anxiously replied back. In reply Alfred just looked at you, he seemed to be so focused staring at you, it almost looked as though he was analyzing your form. You wouldn't have denied it if he didn't make a noise in protest.
   "Not hungry? But you haven't eaten since breakfast…" he asked, his tone becoming laced with worry. Realizing your mistake you tried to find a way out of it.
   "A-ah, yeah I know. D-don't worry about it, I've just been under a lot of stress again and you know how I just naturally deal with it…" you trailed off. You stood there in a nervous wreck, hoping he would buy your excuse.
   "Okay, but I'm still gonna have you eat something, you can't just go all day barely eating anything. How about you go relax and I'll come get you in an hour or so when dinner's ready, ok?" Alfred stated as he smiled up at you. You mentally sighed in relief seeing your little lie worked. In reply you gave a sound of understanding, heading off to the stairs. With the bedroom down the hallway in sight you smiled in relief. Knowing you were in the clear you now groaned as you entered the room, practically falling on the bed. Lying there for a seconds you got an idea. You probably just needed rest! You would make this illness leave as quickly as it came. Thinking a nap would make you good as new you shut the door, changing as quickly as you could into the comfiest pair of pajamas you owned. It was perfect idea since you knew with the way Alfred was and his games it would be a while before he disturbed you.
   Once you were done changing you carefully got under the covers since you were still sore. Once you were comfortable you almost instantly fell asleep, a multitude of dreams already forming in your mind.
   ~~~ALFRED'S P.O.V.~~~

   About two hours later when he was done cooking Alfred decided to check up on (Name). He hadn't heard a single noise ever since she got home. He was done with dinner anyway, which was of course Hamburgers. So turning off the stove and setting the cooked patties down he made his way up to the bedroom.
   "(Naaaammee)…" Alfred trailed off, opening the door. Seeing you unresponsive under the covers he raised an eyebrow and smiled. Knowing you always happened to sleep off your stress he wasn't surprised to see you out cold. He walked over to you, but raised an eyebrow at seeing your face in discomfort. He began to feel something was wrong. Gently he put his hand on your shoulder since you were on your side, and shook you.
   "Hey, (Nickname), dinner's ready. I made burgers…" Your boyfriend trailed off, hoping that the delicious food he made might wake you up. His brow creased in worry though at just seeing you groan in response. Living with you he knew you were a relatively light sleeper, so you would have woken up by now.  At that instant he definitely knew something was wrong.
   "(Name)?" he said in a more serious tone. Seeing your flushed face something struck him. He didn't think it was the case but he decided to test it anyway. He put the back of his hand to your forehead, and feeling how hot it was his eyes widened.
   "Holy shit" he muttered as he briskly went into the bathroom, pulling out the first drawer in search of the thermometer. Once he found it he immediately grabbed the Advil in the cabinet above him. Going back over to you he was surprised in seeing your eyes lazily begin to open. 'I guess my ruckus in the bathroom woke her up…' he thought, happy you were awake so he could take your temperature. "(Name), can you sit up?" Alfred said as bent down by your side, breaking out the thermometer. In return he heard you mumble a 'mhm' as he slowly watched you sit up, clearly tired.
   "A-Alfred?" said man heard from you, noticing how hoarse it was. His brow creased in worry, and he wondered how he had not noticed how sick you were before. 'I'm such a dumbass…' he thought in anger. He was supposed to protect you from things like this. He wasn't surprised you had gotten sick this fast, but he wondered why he failed to see it earlier.
   "I'm sorry for waking you up (Name), but I need to take your temp" Alfred said, and doing so by sticking said object under your tongue. In return he watched as you sagged against the pillows, a sad look on your face. Seeing your fallen features he also felt terrible. He didn't know what the cause of your sadness was, but he sure as hell was going to stop it. "(Name) its ok, I'll be right back with a wet towel and a few more pillows for you" Your boyfriend said as he sat down beside you, putting his hand on your warm cheek. He smiled as he watched you look up to him. Still seeing you depressed Alfred would have none of it, and kissed your cheek, making you blush more if possible. You weren't able to reply though because of the thermometer, so instead Alfred lived up to his words and went to go get said things for you, not noticing your guilty eyes.

~~~YOUR P.O.V.~~~
   You facepalmed at your stupidity. Of course a nap wouldn't help you, for your life was never that fair. 'I'm such a burden to him…' you thought miserably. You had hoped what you caught was some cold going around, but unfortunately you just had to get some type of bug. You were just glad you weren't throwing up. You cringed at the thought. Hearing Alfred out in the hall you began to zone out, struggling to keep your eyes open. 'I'm so tired…' you thought drowsily, but right as your eyes fluttered closed again a beeping noise startled you awake. Realizing it was the thermometer you pulled it out of your mouth. You weren't surprised it read one-hundred point five degrees. Right as you read the temperature Alfred came back into the room with your items.
   "So what's it say?" he asked as came over to you, putting the cool cloth on your forehead. You stiffened as you got used to the cold water.
   "One-hundred point five…" you trailed off, sounding disappointed. Hearing the numbers Alfred made a noise in disapproval as he put the fluffy pillows behind you, making you lean forward a bit.
   "That's pretty high. I wonder how it could get like that in such a short amount of time…" your boyfriend trailed off, making you emotionally feel worse. You leaned back as Alfred finished, burying your face in your hands. Seeing your distress Alfred was immediately beside you.
   "(Name) what is it? You have to tell me what hurts so I can help you, please…" you heard Alfred plead. Already feeling bad you looked up to see his worried cerulean eyes. Thinking back to your conversation that afternoon you looked away for a second, your eyes a bit distant. You then sighed looking back straight into Alfred's anxious eyes.
   "I-it's not that… I feel fine except for the usual symptoms, but it's just… Alfred, I-I'm so sorry" you began, bowing your head in shame. You knew that if you notified him sooner you probably wouldn't be in this situation. Hearing your words Alfred instantly became confused though, and not knowing what you could possibly be apologizing for he just gave you a puzzled face.
   "W-what? (Name), if anybody should be saying sorry it's me! I couldn't even notice you were sick, and I'm a doctor!-" Alfred started, but you cut him off as you looked up to him with tearful eyes.
   "That's because I hid it from you! I-I didn't want to be another burden on your p-plate so I thought that it would be b-best-" you continued, your lips starting to tremble as you tried to hold in your tears. It was bad enough you were keeping secrets behind your lovers back, but it made it worse knowing he blamed himself for your current predicament. You were unable to continue as Alfred took hold of your chin, making you look at him.
   "(Name), you will never be a burden to me. You're my first and top priority; if anything ever happened to you I would be devastated" Alfred stated, becoming serious. Your eyes widened since you rarely saw him like this. "I don't care if you hid the fact you were sick from me, I only care about you getting better. So you can stop your moping and start fighting that illness!" Alfred continued, smiling at you his trademark grin. Hearing those words you felt relieved, but at the same time guilty.
    "A-are you sure?" You replied, still unsure. Alfred laughed in reply.
   "Of course I am (Nickname)!" Alfred yelled, pulling you into an embrace. You smiled, finally content when you felt him kiss your cheek again. With his hand rubbing up and down your back in comfort you both stayed that way until Alfred remembered the Advil's he had to give you. Knowing he was going to be right back you let him go. Now all alone again in the room you looked to the clock, almost shocked to see it read eight thirty. 'At least its Saturday…' you thought, considering both you and your boyfriend had the weekends off. You silently laughed at the fact that you would get sick only on the days you had off, it seemed you could never have any fun. Turning on your side you looked at the clock again, noticing Alfred had been gone for fifteen minutes you began to get worried. You thought he was just getting you something to drink to take the pills with.
   "A-Alfre- cough!" you called, but you realized your hoarse voice was not the only problem you had, for your throat had become soar and yelling out was clearly not the best intentions. Hearing your self-induced coughing fit and his name you heard Alfred make a noise in the hallway. Only when you heard him walk briskly down the hallway did you realize he said 'coming', realizing he probably had a mouth full of food. That's when you remembered what Alfred woke you up for, and as you watched Alfred open up the door with what you assumed was his elbow you couldn't help but feel bad for him, that is, until you realized he was carrying a bowl of soup and your drink, all the while a burger hanging out of his mouth. You covered your mouth with both hands trying to stifle your laughter. Even though you lived with him for years you still couldn't help but think his antics were adorably funny.
   Unfortunately your laughter won, but ended up turning into another coughing fit. As you finished you looked up to see a glass of what looked like Gatorade and two pills in front of your face, Alfred's worried features behind them. Muttering a thank you, you took them, and as you got comfortable into the pillows again you weren't surprised to see Alfred sit on the side of the bed with the bowl of soup in his hand. You let out a weak chuckle knowing what his intentions were.
   "Alfred I can feed myself" you said, trying not to notice he began to give you his puppy eyes.
   "But I want to feed you (Name)!" Alfred whined, making you smile at him. Thinking he won he raised the spoon to your lips, but made a noise of protest when you shook your head.
   "No, go eat! I can feed myself without your help" you explained teasingly. Seeing as he was about to protest you playfully glared at him, making him sigh in defeat and carefully hand you over the soup bowl.
   "Fiiiine" Alfred whined as he got up, "but I'll be right back with your crackers!" Alfred quickly added as he ran out of the room, giving you no time to protest. Instead you whined openly and pouted as you shoved the spoon full of (Fav soup) in your mouth. You hated to have Alfred be like this, that just because you're sick he puts you before him. It made you feel so selfish. You didn't have to wait long though as Alfred came back into the room, but your face became puzzled as he held a plate full of five burgers.
   "Er, Alfred why do you ha-" You began, but got cut off by the obnoxious doctor.
   "I thought it would be better if I ate with you! That way you wouldn't be so lonely and I can watch over you, oh and here's your crackers!~" Alfred said gleefully as you watched the thrown crackers land right next to your thigh. You squeaked a bit as Alfred then plopped down on the bed, making your soup almost spill. Realizing you were still sick you immediately began to protest.
   "W-wait! What if I get you sick!? You're eating right by me!" you tried yelling at him, but he just laughed at you already eating, making you pout again.
   "(Name) I think you forgot that not only am I a doctor, but I'm the hero! I couldn't get sick if I tried!" your boyfriend boasted. In turn you just glared at him, intimidatingly opening your crackers. Seeing your expression Alfred whined again. "C'mon (Nickname)! Don't be like that!" Alfred said, but you ignored him and instead ate your soup in silence. You then heard him huff. "Fine, if you wanna be like that…" your heard Alfred say in a playful voice. Somewhat confused you didn't have time to look up as you then felt a pair of strong arms snake around your waist, hot breath on your ear. "I'll just have to make you 'squeal' " You heard your boyfriend whisper rather huskily. You grunted as you then felt him kiss your jaw line, his hands going up your warm and sensitive sides.
   "A-Alfred! S-stop! You're gonna make me spill the s-soup and I'm sore!" you managed to splutter out, and for once Alfred listened to you, but not before he was able to kiss you on the corner of your lips.
   "You're so cute you know that?" Alfred said happily. You just sighed at him, already hearing his statement before.
   "I actually do, now that you said it for the millionth time, but can you take my bowl back to the kitchen please? I'm full…" you trailed off, handing him the soup even though there was plenty left. He scowled at the amount he saw at the bottom of your bowl.
   "Are you sure you can't eat more? What about the crackers?" Alfred complained. In return you began to nibble at them.
   "I'm eating them, and I'm positive. I just don't have an appetite" you replied. Still looking dissatisfied Alfred got up, taking his third burger with him, but not before he stuffed it in his mouth he turned back to you.
   "Drink more of that Gatorade, by the time I get back it better be half gone!" Alfred playfully yelled. In return you facepalmed and did as he said. Since you were also constantly nibbling on your crackers you were on your last one by the time he got back. You watched as he jumped on the bed beside you, and he leaned over to look at your glass, giving you a playful glare. "It's not half empty" Alfred stated. You stared at his face stoically.
   "It's almost there shutup" you countered, making him chuckle. With his laughter being so infectious you couldn't help but weakly giggle along with him. You leaned on his shoulder as you both began to calm down. The atmosphere became rarely silent for once as you both sat there in each other's embrace. With work always being a burden you two seldomly got moments like these, making you both savor it. With your mind once again wandering off you began to think of the conversation you had again that afternoon. Then an idea popped in your head.
   "Hey Alfie, what do you think of marriage?" you asked, and it was obvious you caught Alfred off guard since he gave you a surprised and puzzled look.
   "What? Why would you wanna know that?" Alfred asked, making you become slightly nervous.
   "W-well with Amy getting married and all the word just kinda came to mind…" you said, hoping Alfred would understand you meant no harm by the innocent question. You then became the surprised one when you saw Alfred look like he was actually… thinking.
   "Uhm, well, right now for us I think it would be a bad time considering were both really stressed with work, so I don't know if we would have time to even plan it" Alfred reasoned, and you couldn't help but nod in agreement. It probably would kill the both of you for trying to do such a thing with the way both of your jobs were going. As you continued to hug each other though you also couldn't help but notice how Alfred never mentioned anything about the future. Not wanting to let your true feelings show you shoved away those thoughts and focused on the present. Seeing Alfred was done with his meal you whined when he got up to put the dish in the kitchen. In reply he kissed your forehead as he got out of the bed. "I'll be right back, I promise! Just don't go anywhere!" Alfred mockingly said. He laughed when you glared at him. "Just kidding (Name)~" you heard your boyfriend say as he went down the hall. Waiting for him to come back you sipped a bit more of your Gatorade, thinking about your previous conversation.
   'What if Amy was right…? He seemed so uncomfortable with the question…' you thought depressingly. With your thought on marriage you silently laughed to yourself realizing your situation. 'To love each other in sickness and health, ha…' you trailed off, amusing yourself by fantasizing marrying Alfred, completely forgetting your previous thoughts. Your dreams were interrupted though as Alfred came back, jumping on the bed and attacking you with a hug.
   "Are you feeling any better now?" Alfred asked innocently. Hearing his question made you realize how much better you really did feel, so you watched as he smiled happily when you nodded.
   "As long as you're here I'll always feel better~" you said in a flirtatious manner, making Alfred chuckle. You then felt him pull you closer so that you were held in his arms, your head resting in the crook of his neck while his chin rested upon it. Considering it was the most comfortable position you had been in all day it wasn't surprising you began to feel drowsy. But even with you being as tired as you were, you still felt the need to stay awake. "Alfred, can we stay like this forever?" you asked. At this point you had no idea if it was the fever talking or you, but you just went along with it anyway.
   "What do you mean (Name)?" Alfred asked, not quite understanding what you were implying. You felt him gently rub the hand that was wrapped around you along your arm, causing your eye lids to barely stay open. Unbeknownst to you your boyfriend was awfully aware of your lethargic state
   "I want to be able to, be by your side… forever" you mumbled, beginning to fall asleep. Giving a sincere smile he watched as you fought to stay awake, but ended up drifting off to dream land. Alfred then gently tucked the two of you under the covers, turning off the lights. After he sat his glasses down on the nightstand near him he once again molded your body with his under the covers, hugging you close to his chest. Seeing your chest slowly rise and fall, reassuring him that you were asleep, he whispered into your ear, answering your question.
   "We'll always be together, no matter what. Nothing could ever tear us apart…"
If only he knew how wrong he was.
